David married Abigail Losey 18 Mar 1773, Morristown, Morris, New Jersey. Abigail was born 02 Feb 1756, Morris, New Jersey; was christened 21 Aug 1757, Morris, New Jersey; died 30 Dec 1817, Hamilton, Butler, Ohio . [Group Sheet]

Abigail's maiden name was actually Losey or Losee. Some records depict the name as Loce or Locey as well.

No definitive records are available for her parents, though some records ascribe her to John Losey II and Hannah Holbard. I've yet to see definitive data making this connection.

Some histories ascribe Jacob to serving as Assistant Secretary to Benjamin Franklin and George Ross (both signers of the Declaration of Independence) during the Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention of July, 1776 (immediately after the signing of the Declaration).

This was, however, not this Jacob son of Mattheiu, who was living in New Jersey at the time. It is more likely that the Jacob who served on the Convention was the son of John Garrigues, who was this Jacob's brother. In other words, the Jacob who sat with Benjamin Franklin at the Convention was this Jacob's nephew.

Jacob married Sarah About 1740. Sarah was born 1720, Rockaway, Morris, New Jersey; died 17 Jul 1777, Morristown, Morris, New Jersey. [Group Sheet]

Percy Crayon stated in his History of Morris County that Sarah may have been a member of either the Losey or Lyon families that were numerous in the region during the period.

At some point in time "Losey or Lyon" was transcribed as "Losey of Lyon" and as such, this has since been mistakenly passed down as Sarah having been born in Lyon, France.

No details are known of Sarah's actual maiden name or progenitors.

There is no conclusive evidence of family lines before Matthieu. While it is commonly purported that his parents are Jean Garrigues (b. 1653, Perigord, Provice of Guyene, France) and Marie De Franchimont (b. 1657), there is no definitive evidence linking them. See Robert Garrigus' definitive work on this subject (attached).

Despite the lack of evidence, it is commonly accepted that Matthieu is the son of Jean Garrigues, and this is indeed quite possible. I therefore provide this accepted history back to three known generations with the understanding that there is no definitive evidence of it's accuracy.

Any ties of Matthieu Garrigues' progenitors to French nobility back to the 12th century are suspect, most certainly incorrect, and not included herein.

Matthieu married Susanne Rochet 28 May 1702, Hague, Netherlands. Susanne was born 1686, France; died 30 Sep 1746, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [Group Sheet]
